Finding Her Voice

Naturally, I have high hopes for little Skye. Now that she is trying to sing (at least that's what we think she's doing), I hope that Skye has a musical aptitude. Maybe she will be a pianist, or a cellist, or a lyric soprano. Maybe I'm getting carried away. After all, she is just singing the word "ahh" and not any particular melody yet. But it's fun to dream.

Today Skye had rice cereal (white mush) with a spoon for the first time. She didn't seem to like it very much, as it didn't look like she wanted to taste it or swallow it. I think the half teaspoon-full ended up on the outside of her mouth. She just looked at me with confusion and was quickly ready to get out of the high chair. Oh well, I'll try again tomorrow.

We just had 2 weeks of school holidays, and Chelsea is back to school today. She probably had an exciting day because she returned to school with a broken arm! Hopefully she got a lot of sympathy and attention from her friends and teacher. She broke her arm at a recreation centre, attempting to play volleyball. I think she thought she was playing gridiron because she charged a boy going after the ball and then they both fell down with him landing on her arm. I'm not pleased with the rec centre as they never called us to let us know that Chelsea hurt herself. I had to hear about her sore arm with her own words and never thought it was as serious as it was. But the good thing is that it was her left arm, and she just has to wear a sling for 2 weeks. It should completely heal in 4 weeks. But in the meantime, I have to help her do just about everything! Not an easy task with a baby in tow.

"The Marriage of Figaro" was a big success for the Melbourne Opera Company, and a personal success for me. I was tentative about returning to play at this stage, but now I know I can do it. I also have confidence in Lachlan's abilities looking after the girls. He seems happy to do it, too - just not "full time." I enjoy being a stay-at-home-mum anyway. Can't think of anything else to report, so I'll move on to the photos...
